A shopper cannot inspect your product in person. Your images need to show exactly what arrives, answer practical questions, and meet the listing rules. This checklist is for Amazon.ae sellers preparing a new listing or replacing weak photos. It separates Amazon’s general guidance from our suggested editing workflow.
Start with the main image
Amazon’s published image guidance calls for the actual product on a pure white background, filling at least 85% of the frame, without added text, graphics, watermarks or accessories that are not included. It also identifies 1,000 pixels on the longest side as the minimum for zoom. Verify the current product-type requirements in Seller Central, because category rules can differ. See Amazon’s image guidance.
Our practical check: compare the photograph with one packed unit on your desk. Does it show the correct color, size, quantity and included parts? A beautiful picture of a two-pack is misleading when the buyer receives one item. Keep a separate image folder for each variation so an export does not accidentally replace the wrong listing.
Give every secondary image a job
Plan photos around questions a buyer would ask. Our suggested sequence is a front view, another useful angle, a close-up of the material or connection, a size reference, an in-use view and the included contents. You do not need to repeat nearly identical angles just to fill slots.
- Size: show measurements clearly and use the same units as the listing.
- Compatibility: explain the relevant connection or fit without implying universal compatibility.
- Contents: distinguish included accessories from props used to demonstrate the product.
- Use: show a realistic setting and avoid unsupported performance claims.
Example: for a drawer organizer, a styled drawer photo explains the use, but a top-down image with dimensions answers whether it fits. Photograph the compartments empty as well as filled. Label any demonstration objects as props where appropriate in a secondary image.
Keep an original, then export and check
Save a full-resolution master before resizing or compressing. Work on copies. Start with an export large enough to retain useful detail, then inspect it at normal viewing size and zoom into edges, labels and small parts. Pixel dimensions and file size are different: a large pixel count can still hide blur, and a small file can still look clear.
Use the free image requirements checker to screen dimensions, format and background indicators. Select main or secondary image mode to match the intended placement. The checker cannot establish product authenticity, image rights, every category rule or marketplace approval.
If the file is unnecessarily large, try the image compressor, inspect the downloaded result, then check that exported file again. Keep your original. Enlarging a small image cannot recreate missing photographic detail; take a better photograph when the source is soft.
Fix the specific problem
When an image is rejected or a listing reports an image issue, read the exact message in Seller Central before editing. Keep the rejected file and a note of the message. Change the relevant issue, export a new copy and review the listing again. Repeatedly changing unrelated settings makes it harder to understand what fixed the problem.
A passed local check is useful evidence about the file, not a promise that Amazon will accept it. If a technically sound image still causes an issue, review the category instructions, variation assignment and product depiction before contacting support with the details.
A final five-minute review
- Match the image to the exact product variation and pack quantity.
- Review the main image separately from secondary images.
- Open the final exported file, not just the editing preview.
- Check small-screen readability and crop boundaries.
- Keep the master, exported files and revision notes together.

Frequently asked questions
Does a white background guarantee Amazon will accept my image?
No. The actual product, composition, resolution and category-specific rules also matter. An automated background check is a screening aid, not an Amazon approval.
Can I add dimensions and text to my Amazon main image?
Amazon’s general main-image guidance excludes added text and graphics. Put explanatory diagrams in suitable secondary images and check the current rules for your category.
Will enlarging a small image restore product detail?
No. Increasing pixel dimensions cannot recover detail absent from the original photograph. Use a higher-resolution original or take a new photo.
